The Nordic countries consistently lead the rankings in both happiness and quality of life. With the launch of its new Center for Wellbeing, Welfare and Happiness, the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) aims to establish Sweden as the foremost knowledge hub for wellness and happiness research in the world. And, as the first business school in the world, SSE is also establishing a new professorship dedicated entirely to the subject of happiness, wellbeing and welfare.

In September, Milda Tylaite, Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting at SSE, was awarded for ​​outstanding pedagogical achievements. She was awarded for her work on redesigning the course ”Current Issues in Financial Reporting” to include new pedagogical components and more current issues, especially focusing on sustainability.

In celebration of King Carl XVI Gustaf's 50 years on the throne, the Stockholm School of Economics is establishing a new professorship in youth leadership. The funding for this new professorship comes from a joint initiative by the Swedish business community.

This week, CIVICA launches this academic year’s joint and multicampus courses, continuing the alliance’s work towards a true European campus. The courses are one of CIVICA’s many transnational experiences enabling students to pursue academic paths beyond any one institutional or national context.

Former Major General and Commander of the Swedish army, Karl Engelbrektson, joins the Stockholm School of Economics as a Senior Advisor to the House of Governance and Public Policy. Engelbrektson’s practical experience teamed with SSE research will help shape the next generation of leaders in the defense sector.
