Henrik Friman appointed Senior Advisor at the Center for Security and Resilience

The Center for Security and Resilience at the Stockholm School of Economics has appointed Henrik Friman as Senior Advisor. With extensive leadership experience from both national and international defense organizations, combined with academic research on strategy and leadership, Henrik brings valuable expertise to the center's mission to strengthen Sweden's total defense.

The war in Ukraine has shown the importance of building a strong and resilient society through close collaboration between public and private actors. Leaders and organizations must not only drive their own development, but also find new ways to work together. Strengthening Sweden's total defense requires rapid progress.

Henrik Friman contributes a wealth of experience to the Center for Security and Resilience. He has previously served as Director of Research at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI), CEO of IHM Business School, and Visiting Professor at the US Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Innovation and Experimentation. His research on "strategic time awareness", based on microworlds and agent-based simulations, positioned him early in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning - insights that have informed the digital transformation of the Swedish Armed Forces.

– Throughout my career, I’ve focused on advancing defense-related issues. I’ve worked across multiple defense agencies while also serving as a reserve officer, says Henrik Friman. – The common thread in my work is a passion for business, learning and people, where innovation and entrepreneurship have been key drivers of results.
