Södersjukhuset and SSE's Center for Resilient Health launch collaboration on healthcare innovation

Södersjukhuset has initiated a collaboration with the Stockholm School of Economics' Center for Resilient Health (CRH) to strengthen innovation in healthcare delivery. The partnership focuses on the development and implementation of SöS Testbädd, a new innovation arena designed to support collaboration between healthcare providers, academia, industry, and patient representatives.

SöS Testbädd is a centralized test and development environment where new healthcare solutions can be explored, tested, and refined in close connection to clinical practice. As part of the collaboration, Center for Resilient Health (CRH) will conduct accompanying research to study how such innovation arenas are implemented in practice and to generate insights into the processes and conditions that influence their effectiveness.

“The collaboration with CRH provides us with evidence on how innovation can be implemented in everyday clinical work. The focus is on practical usefulness, improved patient value, and sustainable ways of working for our staff,” says Linda Lindskog, MSc, PhD, Head of Education and Innovation at .

Research-informed innovation in practice

A core aim of the collaboration is to deepen understanding of implementation processes in healthcare innovation and to identify both enabling and constraining factors. Through workshops and structured knowledge exchange, the partners will explore national and international best practices, strengthening the link between academic research and operational healthcare practice.

CRH's research will contribute evidence-based insights on governance, organization, and collaboration in innovation arenas, with relevance not only for Södersjukhuset but also for other healthcare organizations facing similar challenges.

Roles and expected outcomes

CRH will conduct accompanying research throughout 2026, including analysis of governance structures and facilitation of workshops for Södersjukhuset staff. Södersjukhuset will contribute time and resources for interviews and meetings, and support CRH’s involvement in the development of governance models and operational processes within SöS Testbädd.

The collaboration aims to generate a deeper understanding of how innovation arenas in healthcare can be implemented effectively and to provide recommendations for future development and improvement of SöS Testbädd.

The collaboration will commence in December 2025.
