Center for Security and Resilience

The Center for Security and Resilience at the Stockholm School of Economics was founded in response to one of today's most urgent challenges: how to build a society that can withstand crises - and grow stronger through them.

Recent years have shown how vulnerable our world has become. War in Europe, cyberattacks, and disruptions in global supply chains are just some of the issues shaping a new security landscape. The new center brings together researchers, the business community, public authorities, and students to better understand these risks and find ways to manage them - before, during, and after a crisis.

The center focuses on a wide range of topics, including management control, critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, innovation, procurement, crisis governance, public-private partnerships, and supply chain resilience. A key part of the work is exploring how innovative thinking and collaboration between the public and private sectors can support fast, but responsible growth - even in unstable times.

At the heart of the center is a commitment to research that leads to real impact. We work to improve how Sweden's total defense is organized and governed, how future innovations can be developed and secured, and how new business models can strengthen national resilience. Our approach is both strategic and practical, combining academic insight with hands-on experience from the field.

With support from various organisations, such as the Swedish Armed Forces, MSB and Saab, the center serves as a neutral platform for collaboration - and a space for new thinking on how open societies can remain strong in a changing world.
