Conference | Gender gaps in the AI economy

AI is changing the rules of the economy - who gets hired, who advances, and whose work is automated or augmented. This one-day conference, hosted by the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE), convenes researchers and practitioners to examine how AI may widen or narrow gender gaps, and what evidence and policy can do to steer outcomes toward greater equality.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming economies, labor markets, and societies. As AI technologies are developed and adopted across sectors, important questions arise about how these changes interact with existing gender inequalities.

This conference aims to bring together researchers studying the relationship between AI and gender gaps in the economy. We welcome contributions from economics as well as related disciplines, including sociology, political science, public policy, management, computer science, and gender studies.

Possible topics include (but are not limited to):

Gender gaps in AI-related education, skills, and occupations
Gender representation in AI development and governance
The impact of AI and automation on gender gaps in employment, wages, and career trajectories
